...you now have a cemented-shut ignitions switch. I've had good success in a pinch by heating the key up with a lighter and working it into the ignition. Never failed me yet.
Soda pop is bad enough, but purposefully pouring water? An old but true story: There is a fellow from some years ago with a C900 and the enevitably fouled ignition syndrome. In the middle of the night, this car started all by itself due to the fluid pooling up in the bottome of the switch. Being a C900, it was parked in reverse. As such it ran backwards 'til stopped by unknown objects down the hill in the backyard. Pouring fluids into the console may leave you with electrical gremlins the likes of which are best left untested.
I keep a can of PbBlaster penetrant in the car to help. 'And a roll of duct tape for the door locks when venturing into the local car wash...
