Just bought an 89 900S (odo not working) for my son 'cause I like mine (that I bought new in 1989)too much to give to him and this site has helped me fix a lot of things on both already.

Can anyone tell me - for an '89 900S 16v 3 door

1) What year(s) odometer/gage cluster will work-it sounds like the nylon gear problem discussed elsewhere on this site. Speedo works trip/odometer doesn't. Can I take the speedo cable off and glue the odo drive wheel onto the shaft like others have done on the 88's?

2) Will the 87 to 90 Clarion radios I see on Ebay fit into the dash where the present radio is? The one in both cars now has a crystal display on the upper LEFT, the ones I see on Ebay have a display on the RIGHT. What info will I need to make sure the new one will work? Sure would be nice if I could find one to just plug into this "new" car. The display is screwed up and the tape player doesn't work.
