I have a hunch that you might be hearing two noises:
1) The headpipe that you tightened at the turbo is also loose down at the trans bracket clamp. Check at every oil change.
2) The cam chain damper rubber pad that sits in the valve cover is probably hard as a rock.
Use a long screwdriver as a makeshift stethoscope (handle to ear and tip to valve cover) and run the tip along the length of the valve cover. If the clatter is back near the firewall, remove the valve cover and replace the little pad. Simple fix. Maybe time for a new set of valve cover gaskets while you're there.
If the rattle is alll along the cover, suspect the lifter oil feed orings as Andrew suggests. Be careful with the tubes, since they get brittle and snap. Not a bad idea to buy a new tube assembly since you will probably snap a few tubes and corner junctions. BTDT
