I had a huge leak in this area and fixed it. I also found (unusually) little guidance in the BB. I sealed the rear window to the glass assuming this was the problem. Then in some torrential rain I shipped enough water to soak the front drivers carpet! The water was getting through near the rear window onto the rear interior boot panel (holds the interior light) and then into the car. I have written a longer message on this a few months ago. The problem was that the fabric below the rear window fabric appeared to have been trimmed a little short exposing what appear to be a small channel/groove of 3-4 mm between the stretcher (onto which the fabric is stapeled) and the car body. When looking at first, this groove looks 'U' shaped (ie closed) but is actually open to the interior. I filled this with silicone and the leak dissapeared. I still occasionally get a smaller leak which I think is getting in behind the driver's (or passenger in your case) shoulder. This might be because some interior plastic (near the speaker) has been removed.
