On my CE the key turned way to easily: no detents. anyhow it seems there is a gear attached to the base of the lock cylinder. That meshes with another gear that turns the actual ignition switch. In there is another piece that permits this mechanism to work. It is the locking toungue that is tripped when the lever is in reverse, permitting the key to go into (and come out of) the lock position. That is your problem. most likely. Saab Part #93 37 445 is the entire gearset; runs about $45. I orderd one and will install mine tomorrow (hopefully) Here's a link to DougM's album on saabpics. http://saabpics.org:3000/gallery/album133/tranny_control?full=1
One more thing: you will need to remove the shift housing. Note that the Bentley is very helpful, but 94 cvts have a slightly different construction so be patient. It will come out. I just hope I can get mine back in!
