I'm a long time Saab 900 lover/driver.First time posting here.
Have a 1987 900 Turbo w/ 242k mi. last 40k by me. Seems healthy.
I do much mtc & repairs myself using collection of spare parts from
previous Saabs and junkyard scrounge missions in NJ/PA .
First question any ideas why the idle wanders till warmed up?
Never stalls and does stabilize.have changed aic valve ,cleaned throttle
limit switch, cleaned throttle body, checked all possible vac. leaks,
used injector cleaner, air mass meter fine and other things in summer
that I cant remember at the moment. I keep engine well tuned-up-fresh properly gapped plugs and wires . Haven,t changed o2 sensor. Thought
would be worse in winter but is same. Also front caliper going (clunks
when braking in rev. and pulsing squeek tells me rotor warped. I;ve
done front pads but not caliper or rotor--is it hard to do for first time?
I use Bentley manual and Haynes as a cross check.Any tips to make rotor/caliper change go smoothly?
Can't tell you how much I love that car. My commute from PA mtns to
N.NJ 50 mi each way,5x/wk and few problems since I started doing my own maint.
Thanks
