I don't know if adapting a different condensor would solve the problem. There are a number of other things which contribute to an inefficient AC system, especially in those 100 temps. I too have to deal with 100 ish temps and my R134a converted AC system just manages to keep things bearable. One difference between the C900 and most compact Japanese/Korean cars is that they often have less powerful engines, which makes for less engine heat generated while driving and less of a chance for the radiator to radiate heat over to the AC condensor.

The general overall health of the entire AC system is what you need to look into. Perhaps a thorough purging of the condensor, evaporator and the compressor, plus replacing the dryer unit, then refitting with the factory refrigerant will return your AC system to it's normal cooling capacity. When I reverted to R134a, I flushed and purged the entire system. That I get as much from my AC as I do I can only guess is because of that thorough purging effort.
