DO NOT use the aftermarket heater valves. They last about a week and then leak out the top.
I shoulda known better...about 7 years ago I replaced the OEM heater valve with a new OEM Saab valve and all was well for a hundred 20 thousand miles or so until it started to seep/leak out the top of the rack. So I bet $25 against $120 for an OEM valve that the aftermarket was good enough. NOT EVEN CLOSE! OTOH, I got quite a bit faster at removing the heater valve and reinstalling it!!
And fagedaboddit...I don't know any human who can remove one of these suckers from the top through the speaker grille without unscrewing the socket head cap screws from underneath! You MUST remove the knee bolster and the heater duct to get a shot at those four bolts and THEN you can remove the heater valve through the left speaker grille.
