identifying a 1987 900 16v turbo broken bit ?

First (and unrelatedly), I successfully replaced my starter. Thank you to all the people here at saabnet who have gone before me. You all made the job possible and less difficult/impossible than it might've been with just the Bentley manual.
Now, my 1987 900 16v turbo convertible has a broken bit that I need to know the name of so I can get another. It's prominently located and easily describable, so here it goes:
It's a plastic "connector" to which two hoses attach, one medium diameter, one small diameter. It is mounted in/on the top corner of the valve cover all the way to the back closest to the passenger compartment as it can get and still be on the valve cover.
It seems that only air passes through this connector, or at least the smaller diameter tube, as no liquid is spewing out of the break. The bottom of this "connector" is recessed into the valve cover.
The valve cover has nothing on it other than this "connector" thingy.
I keep putting quotes around "connector" because that migth not be the right word. It may be a valve or something. I have no idea. It just looks like it connects two hoses in to the valve cover.
Does anybody have any idea what my broken part is called so I don't have to try this explanation on a parts counter dude who may be less familiar with the car?
Thanks!
