The past few months my '89 SPG has had some rough lumpy steering. I am used to the stiff morning steering rack, but this felt like I was losing my power steering. The steering would bind in certain positions and it felt like I was fighting the wheel. I've replaced the rack, tie rod ends, pump, reservoir, belts, lines, fluid level was fine. Then I read the post below about 'lumpy steering'. It was worth a shot the worst that could happen was that the condition would be the same.
Thank you 'jimtimkim'?! I sprayed some WD40 and PBlaster on the u-joint last night. Jumped in my car this morning and voila my power steering is back to normal!! That was it two shots of lubricant. Its been months!! I was prepared to start buying parts, blah, blah, blah, total cost, two shots of WD40.
I love this site and bb.
Thank you.
Cliff
