I ended up keeping the hoses connected to the throttle body. I probably won't be driving in the snow all that much, but this is my daily driver and it could happen.

Plus, I live in the Bay Area. I might have to flee some kind of natural disaster for the Sierras at any time. : )

When I removed enough stuff to get access to the nipple, the first thing that I found was that I had crushed the end of my new hose by over-tightening it.

The next thing I discovered was that the nipple was aluminum. It was actually cast as part of the throttle body as opposed to the other nipples which were pressed-in brass. This meant that it had gotten corrosion on it due to my car having the 'green sh*t' coolant in it from the previous owner. If my experiment with posting a picture works, you should be able to see the difference. The aluminum one is the lowest one towards the top of the picture. It should be light-colored but its got brownish corrosion all over it.

The whole coolant problem is mentioned on townsendimports.com, but its down right now, so I couldnt get the URL.

I polished the nipple, put on some RTV silicone, as Kevin suggested, and redid the hose. I also used one of the old Saab hose clamps, instead of the new one I had gotten from the hardware store. I liked it better because it had a solid interior surface, which keeps the hose from squishing out of the little slots.

Leak is now fixed.

Thanks so much for your help guys!
