I've been thru the Saab ringer many times in 7 years of ownership. But it's THIS car that has me wondering about curses, let me explain:

-Purchased in Dec 03 for $1100.00 with 135K on clock, it needed a starter motor and an outer tie-rod end to pass ins. I did both and was on my way.
-Car was great until April 04 when it started running poorly, low power etc. Two indy saab mechs. couldn't properly diagnose. I found the culprit; a ruined crankshaft from a HB that was not properly torqued, ruined the key way on the shaft. Used engine (with 6 mo. warrantee!) put in with 92K miles on clock.
-Newer engine runs great for about 6 mos., then it too starts running poorly, stalling in traffic etc. My indy suspects bad CKP sensor, but car won't do what it was doing, sits 2 weeks at his shop running good, gives it back to me. Sure enough, 2 weeks later it dies on me, motor still under 6 mo. warrantee, indy replaces CKP sensor. It's late 2004 at this point.
-Dec 04, "black ice" gets me: replace lower A arm, drive shaft, 1 b.joint, spindle, wheel and tie-rod end.
-2 weeks ago one of the alt. belts gets chewed up. Knew i was going to have to replace alt bushes (alt shook a little) but was waiting for the weather to get a little warmer.
-Now discover bad HB in midst of alt. bushing and belts job.

Other stuff I have (me doing work) done that is just routine maintenance and doesn't lend to curse theory:
-complete exhaust from header pipe to tail pipe including the unbelievably difficult to replace heat shield and new o2 sensor.
-complete rear brakes calpiers and all.
-hoses here and there
-coolant, temp sensor, thermostat etc.

Don't mean to come across as a whiner, but jeez! Love the car, except for the placement of accessory belts. Want to keep because of all the stuff I've done, but what if the car is truly bad mojo? It's just the short amount of time i've had it and all the problems that have occured is a little much. Thanks for listening to me vent, my wife just gets mad and tells me to sell it even though she loves it too and is a saab nut like me.
