First and fore most, please check your prior post.
149k km ~ 93k miles
The ems stands for electronically modulated sport orginally when it came out on the 99 in the early 70's I like to think it stands for even more swedish though.
The 79 900 ems is pretty rare, I believe it is the only year of the 900 ems after that the badging was changed to GLi or something. The rust can be taken care of, but it can be a big task. I have a 79 900t 5dr which has rust and I had taken care of some but it is a big project. The doors will interchange with any 900 with the same door combo, ie 3 dr with 3 dr and 5 dr with 4 dr. Master cylinder is easy to change and there is no problem getting parts like that for the car since they are used on all the c900's. Hood can easily be replace. If the car runs good that is a big plus and since it is for your son as a frist car that might be a good one, not have to worry about the fact the car gets into an accident which hopefully will not happen. $400 for a running car that you can drive seems to be a good deal even if you only drive it for a year or two and then get rid of it.
