I started my 1993 900 16 valve injection the other day, and it immideately sounded like it was crushing everything inside it - heavy knocking, rattling and full stop. I tried to turn it over again, and it would - but first the starter almost didn't manage to get it to turn over, then it turned, hesitated and finally started. When at tickover a heavy knocking sound occured, along with uneven rpm. The knocking gradually went away in 10-15 seconds, and afterwards no problems at all. Have driven the car 20 miles after this, and it runs sweet, no sounds at all. What the heck was this? I say, the noice it made was like everything chrushed together; valves, pistons, rods... everything. Could it be the distributor cap/rotor making the plugs spark at wrong times? It's new, but not SAAB original (Beru I think).
