It seems to happen quite often. Although I think calling your girlfriend u-g-l-y is not really a good tactic. Women never, ever take that as a joke.
Anyway, I was on a first date with a girl once. I picked her up after dark so she really didn't notice that I was driving my 86 900 S. While on our way to dinner she commented that she didn't like guys who drove European cars like BMW's, Audi's and Saab's! Ha! I said "what's wrong with Saabs?" and she replied "They're weird looking and the people who drive them are (insert word for rear-end body part here)". So I replied "what do you think about my car" and she replied: "it's nice, it's like an airplane inside". I asked what she thought of the ride and she said she thought it was smooth and nice. I finally asked her what she thought of me and she said so far she thought I seemed really nice. I said "so I'm not an (rear-end body part)?" She said "no, why would I ask that? To which I said, you're sitting in my Saab. Needless to say she was embarrased and she apologized. I never called her back after that date. Not because she made negative comments about Saabs, but because was quite boring and talked about ex-boyfriends too much.
