87 900 16v TC brake vacuum booster noise

After a very hard 60mph to 0 stop due to a jaywalker, my 1987 900 16v turbo convertible seems to have what I figure is a leaky/noisy brake vacuum booster in the passenger compartment. It makes a noise akin to radio static or rushing air and it changes when pressing the brake pedal. I hear this noise loudest with my face stuck in the driver's side floor.
My Bentley book says the brake vacuum booster is a sealed unit that is replaced rather than repaired. I'm guessing my hard braking busted a seal inside the thing.
On the other hand, maybe a vacuum hose just popped off or something easy. Does anybody with experience with these things know if there could be something simple wrong with mine that wouldn't require replacing the booster unit? I'm a complete novice and will have quite a time even locating the unit, so once I find it I'm not gonna recognize if a hose just fell off or not...
And, does anybody sell these brake vacuum booster units online? I already checked eeuroparts and saabstuff but don't see them. (That doesn't mean they're not there, I'm just not good at their searches I think.)
Thanks in advance!
