Could I have done any damage?

I just got back home from the store. As I was accelerating hard down the road, 2 things happened:
1. The car backfired, lost power, then stalled out.
2. At the same time, I heard what sounded like maybe a small nut or rock or something rattle around, beginning in the engine compartment, went along the right side of the car then the back.
I was able to pull off into a parking lot. I tried to start the car 6-7 times, and it would start, but it would quickly die when I gave it any gas. Finally popped the hood and began checking hoses. Soon saw that the small 4-5" rubber "connector" at the mouth of the intake had somehow disconnected. I fit it back on, the car started and I drove home.
Now I'm thinking worst case. Not being an expert mechanic, the rattle sound I heard right at the point the car backfired wories me. The car seems to run fine, but should I be worried that I did any damage to the engine or turbo?
