I've been reading multiple manuals this weekend- for my 1992 S convertible, do you really use the plug in front of the shifter to flash out LH codes? You know, the one marked "AIRBAG TEST???"
I gotta admit that makes me nervous.
Also, does one read these codes off with the engine running or not? I guess if you don't it will read off an ignition code first since the motor's not spinning.
Overall, I'm trying to figure out if the fuel pressure regulator (original, 111k, 13 years old) is causing my smoky startups or if the AMM is shot before blowing lots of money on one of these. The CEL is out, but that doesn't mean the fuel mixture isn't all goofed up.
The NTC sensor is fine. The TPS is fine. The AIC valve has been cleaned recently and idle adaptation on the car is pretty good, but on cold starts a quick jab of the gas will make the motor stumble.
The car has a minor vacuum leak with the dash vent switch out of commission.
What had started as a simple post about reading out codes has turned into "will you diagnose everything" again. Sorry. Good night.
