Any simple way to thread equalizer cable up to radio?

Hi. Just removed my equalizer/radio from my 900 turbo and would like to implant it into my 900s. Had a heck of a time pulling cable running between the radio and equalizer (end of which is ~0.25" too wide) from between the lower console and ventilation in the lower center of the dash, but managed to do so by abusing the ventilation piece. Is there an easy, non-destructive way to provide some space in that area so that I can shove that connector up towards the radio, or do I have to loosen the lower console? My bruised forearms would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
