I have a 91 900s 2.1L 16V 5 speed. If you have an auto-tranny, don't expect great mileage, I like the 5speed. I get 22-26 city depending on how i drive it. If I baby it and shift at 2000rpm I might get almost 27 but it is hard to do. I drove a whole tank full on a trip through the mountains last week, 65mph-70mph max and driving it moderately hard, I still got 30mpg, no city at all on that tank. I can get 35mph on flat highway if I drove it easy and keep it under 65mph. I once got 43mpg on a different saab, a 87 900s 5 speed, 55-60 mph with some long down-hills going from Oregon to Calif., but I never tell that to anyone because they don't believe me. I have burned calif. fuel, oxygenated stuff and I got less power and less miles per gallon. I think it's a stupid idea and glad they don't have it in the pacific northwest.
Mostly I drive it how i want and have fun, if it costs a couple buck each tank full extra i don't care, i have the saab for fun.
