I doubt a longer cranking time would be needed except maybe after a winter's storage. An engine would have to be sitting a very long time to lose oil out of galleries and between bearings to the extent that anything could happen in the short time on startup before oil light goes out indicating full oil pressure. (Unless you mat it instantly every time you start.) To me it will be great to have the annoyance of the long cranking time be a thing of the past.
Any time you do feel like letting it crank longer, say afer an oil and filter change, or turbo work, just turn key off instantly as it starts to catch, repeatedly a few times, till letting it start. Or get out and pull the coil wire.
