Park Place Moved....A Wiper Story

I have experienced another cute but bothersome Saab Quirk recently. My '89 SPG's wipers always operated as designed, all speeds, etc, until last week. For some weird reason, my "Park" position is now different than the full lower blade sweep limit. Wipers till operating correctly and well, except that now my blades park 3" up the windscreen, although when operating they sweep to the lower rubber. I cannot re-position the blades on the posts, since that would cause the arms to strike the bonnet.
Here's a clue: Just before this new state of wiper affairs, I was startled to observe the wipers stall dead in center windscreen while on the Intermittent position. I turned them off, then restarted them, and all was OK, but for this new Park location. Did something slip or shift?
I've researched all the "wiper" posts and got a glimmer that wiper "Park" happens inside the wiper motor gearbox. Has anyone gone into that gearbox, what happens in there, what must I do to shift the Park position back to the extreme lower sweep point, and finally, what is the meaning of life? I welcome all classic 900 wiper fetishists to join the discussion.
Thanks a Bunch!!
