Cleaned and checked AIC: 7 Ohms.
Cleaned and checked NTC: 2300 at 70 degrees F and correct while warm.
Checked vacuum hoses: no leaks.
Revs up to 1500 rpm's when warm (idles fine when cold).
When a/c or headlights are on, rev's are fine (850 - 900). Once these are turned off, rev's go back to 1500 rpm's.
Tried to check timing, but due to the high rev's was not able. Plus, if I pulled on the throttle cable to increase engine speed, then allowed it to drop so that idle would hit normal (850), would try to look for timing marks before it crept back up to 1500 again. I could not find any timing marks.
I noticed that #1 spark plug wire on distributor cap is directly on top, yet in the Bentley it shows it being to the side. All the wires are in correct order and are attached to the correct cylinders. Could the distributor be way out of spec? Where should #1 spark plug wire be situated when looking at the distributor cap?
Car runs fine, except for this idle problem. Any ideas what is causing the fast idle given the conditions I mentioned?
(btw: new plugs, wires, rotor, cap, etc.)
