I see numerous messages that seem to want to make the CAR A REAL FAST SOB. (SORRY. wrong keys)

Why?

The car is a nicely balanced unit. 140 hp (non turbo 93 2.1) is pretty good. Not 250 or 300, but I doubt the chassis would work well with that kind of squeeze. That's in the weeds power.

couple comments on boosting power. 1. power up, reliability down. 2. Lots of power = lots of wallet. 3. it really ain't no big deal. Learning how to drive what you got is more important.

SAAb has never, in my recollection, been a "fast" car, but it has often been a quick car. But to be a quick car, it had to have a quick driver.

Spend the gold on drivers school (Russell, etc) and you'll be faster dollar-for-dollar than nearly anything you could bolt onto an ECU-controlled car (the ecu, for one thing, will fight modifications by adapting the routine to the changed circumstances) so a change in sometng that is seen by the O2 sensor (which Volvo pioneered in 76) will mean the FI/etc will change to bring the voltage in the O2 into limits. Self defeating. See reference of driving school. ECU doesn't control driver skill.
