Re: Inner drivers same for auto as 5sp? Posted by Saana88 [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Inner drivers same for auto as 5sp?, Kenzo, Sun, 24 Apr 2005 13:06:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I believe after mid-1986 model year the autos used the same inner drivers. In order to give you the most complicated example, here's what I did:
ABS shafts are a little longer I think.
I put a donated 89 gearbox (probably had ABS) which was running in an '87 S (no ABS) in my '88 (no ABS) ex-automatic for, you guessed it, the trashed POS autobox. I have noise, but it's probably *just* pinion bearing noise. I was going to look into it this summer, probably by either putting new inner drivers on or just throwing in some rebuilt axles, while the car is in storage. Other people will replace the inner driver "tripod" bearings, not too tough, or switch them on to the opposite side or somesuch.
The quick answer: They'll fit. Have a nice night.
