I'd do it again from below, but with a lift, or from a pit. Definitely a lot of work either way, especially by oneself. One thing I didn't have trouble with, but easily could have, was the shift rod taper pin popping out freely on the tranny that needed replaced. There would have been no room to drop it with that extra piece hanging on cuz the steering rack is in the way. Of course, if I was stuck and had no choice, the rack would have come out. The easiest part was aligning it with the block just before the final mating. With the tranny balanced on the hydraulic jack (on a wood base) and a few inches from mating with the block, it's fairly stable since it has nowhere to fall. So that made it easy to push and pull and tap the jack around for optimum alignment.
