Blot the front carpet area to see if there is evidence of any water leaks. Also check in the trunk area for dampness, especially under the trap door. Be sure the strip below the back window is securely attached to the glass. If it is not, water WILL get in. Check that all the windows seal securely (take it for a high-speed drive and listen for wind noise) and that there are no tears in the weatherstripping. Occasionally the windows get misaligned to the point that the rear ones overlap the front ones so that you can't get out of the car without lowering the windows. Having said that, the windows can be adjusted to close and seal properly. Be sure the automatic door locks work. Be sure the power seat adjusts evenly (not one seat-side moving forward and the other not) If they don't move together it means a cable is broken. Be sure the hood opening mechanism works smoothly. Check for excessive wear on the convertible top fabric above the rear-side windows along the bow. Saab had a recall to fix this problem (see Townsend site). If it was not done you will wear out tops in this area in no time. Check to see that all the interior lights and switches work properly. The dash and shifter lights have been known to go bad and dash switches sometimes lose their ability to stay in the on (in)position. Be sure the 3-piece hard toneau cover (boot) is included AND USE IT. A good used one is about $300.
