The spring is only held in place by the detents made out of the aluminum tumbler housing when they stamp it in a press.
If one of those two detents have broken off, it is almost impossible to get that spring back in place and to stay there.
It might be that the spring has broken off too, and doesn't reach between the pin and the hole in aluminum tumbler.
