When you do clutch slave rebuild, flush out entire load of nasty break fluid, using clean DOT 3 or 4. Reflush with DOT 5 silicone fluid, usually purple in color till all nasty Chevy corrosive liquid agent is not showing. Top off with DOT 5, and carry a spare bottle under the hood or in the trunk.
Now you may genuflect to the Fifth Fluid Father of Saab longevity and say bye-bye to brake/clutch troubles.
Normal Chevy DOT X fluid is alcohol based. As we may know, your full vodka glass will still hold more water-it adsorbs water. So does Dot 3. water is not a good lubricant. DOT 3 will remove PAINT-DOT 5 WILL POLISH YOUR PAINT!!
Silicone is a rubber lube and rejuvinator. Why do mfrs put toxics in our cars?
I always put DOT 5 in any car I get, and have never regretted it.
I have owned a dozen SAAB cars from 1973 and still have all but three.
