I like the way you think. I don't hope to "say die". However, there are so many things needed as well as irrevesible effects that I think the logical solution would be to find a cleaner vehicle.
This particular car needs consideratble body work in addition to many other things to be a worthy runner.
If it was a cleaner body, thats what I would do. The car has been hit a few times and has a perforated floor, door jams and other exterior areas. I already had to have a rear shock mount welded.
However, the motor is in decent shape. Received a head gasket not to long ago, trans about 5 years ago, a few water pumps, slave cylinders, turbo is strong but does get some blow-by. I think the rings are shot though.
Seems like I lose quite a bit of oil. The motor iself has about 130K and has already had the obligatory post 100K headgasket replacement. It still needs a steering rack in a bad way, has a hydraulic leak, etc, etc.
The amount of time and money that will be required to fix or have things fixed, outweighs the justification of keeping it on the road.
