...all around that seam, then apply some kind of soft-setting sealer across bottom and up both sides, forcing it into crack and spreading it wide on either side. There's a butyl rubber caulk meant for sealing seams on metal buildings, not the kind sold in hardware stores but a type that stays permanently soft and gooey. But I don't know how it would hold up against motor oil. Maybe some kind of pipe dope but I think my favorite one, Rector Seal, is too thin and oily to work.
Would silicone sealer stay stuck there?
Anything beats pulling engine and tranny.
What is this front tranny gasket you said you changed?
