I'll chime in on this too Posted by Steve Schwedland [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: replace dash board ?, 900S_NC, Sun, 22 May 2005 15:19:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Definately pull the steering wheel, it makes it a whole lot easier. It's a simple job, just make sure the wheels are pointing straight ahead so that it is easy to line up the steering wheel when you put it back on. I also pulled the knee bolster and lower console, it makes it easier to work with the wires on the dash pannel, they are easy to R&R. As has been pointed out already, label all the wires as you remove the dash panel, the TwinSaabs site has a good expaination of this process.
You don't have to pull the actual instrument cluster.
Open both front doors when pulling the old dash out and putting the new one in, I didn't and I kinda messed up one of the bottom corners of the new dash :(
I also had a hard time with the glove box light wires, it was kinda tight getting in there to put them back on. I didn't remove the shifter and I don't remember it ever getting in the way.
Good luck.
