As soon as I purchased my '89 900 Turbo Conv. I switched to AMSOil! But FIRST I put a quart of AMSOil Engine Cleaner in the engine and ran it for 15 minutes or so. This cleansing loosened everything up and it drained out.
The car when purchased had 80k on the OD. A little high for strait Synthetic where I would normally put in Para-synthetic (Combo of petroleum/synth). In my case I went for the heavier viscosity of 20/50 Racing and the car Hummmmms real sweet. I also use 80wt Synth. Gear Lube in the Tranny and Front Dif.
By the way, I've been a loyal user of AMSOil products in all of my vehicles since 1980 and will not return. Even with the '59 Pan-Head as well as the New Harley. Having said this, I understand the risks of converting over to cars with greater than 50k on the OD. Hairline fractures in the cylinder walls et al are formed over time and the synthetic oil unfortunately seeks them out and exploits them. So, there is a risk of oil leakage when doing this.
