I have used it with good success. I documented a 10% fuel mileage improvement with a well-broken in "B" motor. Was getting just under 30 mpg on a regular 50 mile commute for June and July. August I changed oil (same brand and viscosity) and added it and mileage *instantly* improved to 33. And stayed there all through August.
Now an "H" or 16V motor will show less improvement b/c there's a lot less sliding friction going on. Have used it for tens of thousands of miles on Turbo engines w/o ill effects.
As for the oil drain back valve - it's part of the specificatin for the PF-53 type oil filter. If the valve doesn't seem effective with any specific brand oil filer ... DON"T USE THAT BRAND! Mann filters have the fanciest internals of anyone. Delco filters - both the OE Saab and "Champion" American made ones are effective.
