Clarion Cd player info: long Posted by Ken [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Clarion Cd player, Alex, Thu, 2 Jun 2005 15:04:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The CD changers communicated with the controller through a long 13-pin cable. This cable is called a C-Bus cable. Th ecable plugs into the changer on one end, and the contoller (on my 94 cvt, it's integral with the single CD player)
This cable supplies the power to, and transmits the signals from the changer. If you have the open 13 pin connector on back of your EQ or single CD/EQ, you're in business. The CD changers I've used on the C900 are the CDC635 and RDC634, These are older units, but they still work well and play the CDs I've burned from iTunes. I've also heard the newer DC-625 works too. The key is the "C" in the number. It indicates the presence of the 13 pin receptacle on the side of the changer.
If you don't have the receptacle on your EQ unit, all is not lost. You need to get a clarion FM modulator. Make sure it has the "C" in the name. FMC150 and FMC250 are 2 examples. The 13 pin cable from the changer plugs into the "commander" (silly name. I know) and the commander is wired to switched and unswitched power and then has an adapter thet plugs into the radio antenna input. The antenn plugs into this adapter as well. There is also a wired remote that allows you to power up, change discs and tracks, etc. Turn on this remote, turn the radio to a blank station you set, and bingo! CD's through the radio!
Have at it, but don't pay through the nose... once I hook up the iPod directly, I'm pulling the changer OUT.
