Sorry all for having to post so much, I am still waiting for my Bentley manual to arrive.
Here is the situation. I bought a 900 S a couple of weeks ago. I really haven't had the chance to drive it because of work and other things. One of those other things was last weekend I did take it for about a 60 mile jaunt. Half way, I stopped at a Wally World to get some oil to do a oil change, came out and the car wouldn't start. It was the starter motor that died. Afew back and forths on the key and it finally engaged. Then about ten minutes later, driving the Wisconsin back roads, the exhaust gets loud. The car has a very new, less than a year old, exhaust system. When I got home I popped the hood took a look and felt around and it felt like I blew out the manifold gasket. So the car sat while I ordered a starter and a gasket.
The starter went in with just a few minor curses, and after that was done up on the ramps for the oil change. Lo! and behold here is my oxygen sensor hanging buy its wires. I try to get it back in and find the thread are way mucked up. I try one fix and it holds, until I am on my way to work - 20 miles of country roads - when it pops out. I get to work fine but on the way home the Saab starts to act if it is starving for gas. I do get home, however.
Today, between rain showers, I do a better fix for the sensor and it is now in nice and tight. However the car is running like poop. It will start every time but feeding it any gas at all starves it and it nearly dies.
Could the sensor, since it did hit the pavement when it came out be toast? Or are the too things unrelated?
I have not pulled the plugs yet (they are a week old, by the way, along with the cap and rotor) but I believe I will find them fouled. Can anyone give me some other ideas or what to check or where to look?
TIA
Tad (the Saab rookie!)(as me about bicycles or Series Land Rovers tho'!)
