I don't think you need to drill at all.
If the 6mm threads are ripped out the hole is almost up to size so that you can run the Helicoil tap in. Aluminum is quite soft so you should be able to get the tap started.
You might have to cut the back of the tap down to make it shorter and then grind a new square to it for a wrench to grab.
Or as I would do. Cut the tap down on the back and weld a small 1/4 socket onto the shaft and use a 1/4 ratchet to drive the tap in.
Only your mindset is stopping you from completing this.
