Edwina has a new noise or two

Edwina (89 900S, 5 speed, non-turbo) has a noise and since Hubby won't be off again till Sunday to look at it, I'm hoping to get some ideas here.
When I have the car in reverse and start rolling backwards a tad with the wheel cut hard to the right, there is a noise that sounds like rubber rubbing against rubber. I figured it was because of the high humidity and heat we've had for the last couple of weeks. Hubby thought maybe it was a ball joint, so he bounced around the right front of Edwina but no noise. Now when I'm driving around occasionally I hear that noise, but sometimes it sounds like metal may is in there jangling. (I feel like those people on the old Midas commercial about noises!)
Another really stupid question borne from my new noise hypersensitivity: it is normal to hear some racket from the clutch when I put Edwina in gear and take off? It sounds like it is coming from the center of the car toward the back of the engine compartment. I have a new clutch (this spring, less than 2K miles on it) but am thinking I am only hearing this because (a) I'm hyped out over noise and (b) I have all the windows down and it is quiet out when I go to work in the mornings, so that's why I hear it.
Okay, I'm going to say it to save you guys from having to do it: Hey, Lady, there's nothing wrong with your car!!!
Seriously, any ideas? I'm going to wonder and wonder till Hubby is home on Sunday afternoon to take a look-see.
