Intermittent Idle Problems

On my '93 turbo automatic w/108k I have an intermittent idle problem. It starts fine when cold, and idles flawlessly in all driving situations. The only time I have a problem is when the car sits for a short period of time (after it's fully warmed up) like if I run into a store for a short period of time. When I come back out it doesn't want to start unless I step on the gas. Sometimes it just dies if I take my foot off the gas.If I hold the gas on a little it will run fine at normal idle speed. If I drive it a few blocks it goes back to normal. Lately I've found that if I give it a little rev when I start it, then take my foot completely off the gas it will idle normally. My guess is that it is the Automatic Idle Control. Bentley says it and the throttle valve plate may need to be cleaned--which is where I would like to start. They don't tell how to do it though-any help?.
