There is also the "too cold" shut-off switch. The temp probe is inserted into the evaporator and the connecting wire for that runs into the cabin via the harness which is visible near the vacuum canister on the right side of the car. There's a rubber boot around the harness just where it enters the cabin interior. The actual switch location I don't know. I've heard said it's just inside the cabin after that rubber boot. The idea has to be similar to all the other temps related switches - a current must pass through to operate the compressor. If the switch is bad perhaps you can trace the wiring to the fuse box and jumper it at a convenient location until you replace that switch. I do know it's an important feature since keeping the evaporator from accumulating ice is necessary. I do know that switch works. On a cool day, but still sunny enough so that an open window in stalled freeway traffic isn't enough to keep cool - the AC will turn on and off when that sensor tells it to do so. Turning the AC on in temps below 60F, the switch will kick it off real quick.
