I have spent the weekend trying to track down a start/idle problem on my 1988 SPG. Prior to spending the past three days doing various tests and adjustments, the car would start, idle poorly until warm, and then run fine. The car failed NJ inspection for emissions reasons so I reinstalled the stock 21 lb injectors, the stock fuel chip, and replaced the O2 sensor.

The only non stock items still on the car are an MSD ignition with boost control, 3” down pipe, upgraded intercooler with fan, and a performance exhaust system. Timing has been reset to 18 degrees. Fuel pressure is 45 lbs, all vacuum lines replaced with silicon. Throttle body was cleaned and the position sensor checked.

The car starts but idles erratically even when warm. The idle surges, car runs for several minutes and then eventually stalls.

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point. Luckily the car is not my daily driver.
