device for sqeezing the each valve spring tightly closed, then the two split keepers can be removed and the spring taken off the valve and valve then pushed thru the head, no rocket science there. Reassemble is the reverse. Before reassembly is where the lapping comes in.
The valve lapping is another old school trick, some abrasive lapping compound and a little stick with a suction disc on the end holds the back side of the valve (combustion chamber side) while you roll the "stick" in betweeen your palms, this gently removes small amounts of material and gets the two surfaces to mate. Do this sixteen times and you are good to go,
