How high: clutch engagement point?

Hi All,
I recently endured a clutch job, but finally got it done and I actually seem to have done it correctly. The clutch action is light, and it's a little easier to shift now (all bearings/seals were replaced, and flywheel was resurfaced). The one thing is notice is that, like before, the clutch engagement point seems a bit high. Before I thought it was due to a worn clutch disc (which was liteterally down to the metal), but now that I've replaced all the hydraulics except for the clutch line (slave is new, master has been rebuilt, everything is bled), what the heck could it be?? The pedal? I've checked that as well, and I can't see any slop in the linkages down there either, although there's about an inch or two of free play before I can feel the hydraulics working. In any case, can someone tell me what would make a clutch release high, rather than low. I suppose I could also just be paranoid, but just to compare, it feels like my clutch releases about 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way up from the floor...
