hey everyone!

i just wanted to say that i sucessfully towed my 14' boat and its large trailer from philadelphia to williamsburg yesterday without any issues.

however, the two posts from chaz and thor have reinforced my plan to get a real saab hitch - they make really good safety issues that i didn't think about.

my point is, i didn't build the hitch to last forever. i built it because i had come into posession of this boat and i needed a way to deal with it, and i couldn't find a used hitch anywhere (and believe me, i tried). and i posted it on here because i was kind of proud of it.

so i guess what i'm saying is, thanks those of you who thought it was a good idea, but i think chaz and thor are right - it's unsafe. and chaz and thor, thank you, because i'm sure you've saved the lives of some unspoken family driving behind me on my next trip.

and yes, i have finally located a used hitch, and will be putting it on my car the moment it gets here.

hopefully my....ingenuity...will be a little more controlled by common sense next time.
