That's all we use at work, and we spray it over all makes and models of vehicles with who knows what type of paint is on them. We have a PPG paint mixing system in the shop, so we mix our own paint and basecoat/clearcoat every job, even though the original paint on some cars is not clearcoated from the factory, especially on the older cars.
Your '84 may be clearcoated, but that depends on the color. Saab didn't use clear on the solid colors in '84, only metallics got cleared.
Since prep work is the biggest part of the job, removing everything instead of masking it off makes for a nicer job. Sand all old paint with a minimum of 400 grit before paint is sprayed.
