I'm not pushing the Basslink per se. The idea of a package deal seems appealing to me.
From what I've been reading, the car audio reviewers seem to think that the Basslink covers all the required criteria as compared to the competition. The next level from there would be to install a stand-alone amp under the seat or somewhere, buy/build a box and select a woofer cone. At that point, you talking about a bit more $$$.
For $200, the Basslink seemed to be a nice package where everything is included. It wouldn't be a big deal if you wanted to move it to another car or remove it for security puposes. Some "car audio heads" might scoff at the product but it makes sense to me as a plug-n-play device.
Also, beware of high-end speakers that require high-end power. Larger magnets require more power. I've found it helpful too listen to all the car speakers in say Circuit City or somewhere before ordering online. When shopping for my van a several years back, I had my heart set on these Infinity Reference Series component speakers but they only sounded good through a high powered amp. I ended up going with a pair of Pioneer 6.5" 3-ways because they sounded better with the 52 watt per channel Sony head unit that I was looking at. I pretty much went for the highest power in-dash unit I could find for under $200. Kind of an ugly unit but I have to say, it does very well for a large van with 4 rather larger speakers. Infact, for what I spent on it, it rocks. And when it comes to bargain-hunting, I have no shame.
