Oil return line for turbo can spell disaster? (Long)

I have a 1985 SPG and have had some smoking problems that I can't seem to shake.
The initial symptoms were blue smoke at idle, only after the car had been driven most of the day (I do live in los angeles) and usually after it had cooled down at some point and was started up again.
Thinking it was the turbo, I rebuilt it with a kit from Swedish Dynamics... This has fixed the problem for the last six months. Now I have noticed smoke again. Not NEARLY as much as before. But some.
I read on the rebuild kit that it is suggested that you have the oil return line professionally cleaned. I didn't do this.
Does anyone think that a clogged oil return line could have blown out my turbo rebuild already? The only thing that me think it is the turbo and not some other item (valve stems) is that rebuilding the turbo unit fixed the problem for some time.
Thanks.
