It is a common problem (all 3 of my cars had it) but the fix is usually easy and free. Remove the speaker cover on the drivers side, reach in and find the pair of bulb holders. These "untwist" from the back of the instrument cluster. The problem is the copper contacts on the bulb holders not making good contact. What i do is bend the contacts slightly inward with needle-nose pliers so that they have more "bite" into the printed cicuit membrane. You may have to fiddle around a bit to because if you bend them in too far the bulb holder won't twist back into the cluster.
It's been 2.5 years since i made this fix on one of my cars and still no problem with the dash lights.
