Well, the leak, is a little hole right at the bottom of the banjo fitting that goes onto the fuel pump. Right now as a temporary fix, I had put some epoxy putty on it. I wrapped the putty around the line where the hole is and squeezed it nice and tight, that way it would make a firm grasp as it dried. That putty gets as hard as a damn rock when fully cured, so I don't have to worry about the putty not being able to put up with the force of the fuel coming out but, what I do need to be concerned about is how well the epoxy will "adhere" to the fuel line, as it may loose a bit of its grasp eventually, and wallah...............it starts to leak. If I were to fix the line like you said with a nylon kit, I will have to find a way to removed the epoxy without damaging the line, which..........may be next to impossible. So things are iffy now. If I would have known about those nylon kits, I couldv'e fixed a long time ago, for about 30 bucks or so. The next thing I thought about doing, in the situation I am currently, was to cut off the line behind where the epoxy is, use the banjo fitting( I have a spare one around here I can use, if I can't get the one out that is currently on the line), and press that into the remaing line. But, I'd have to cut off about 3 or 4 inches to do that, not giving much to work with for this line in particular. The other thing, pressing in a banjo fitting on a nylon fuel line that is about 16 years old, probably won't work, since it is probably very brittle, even if I were to use hot water the soften up the line, it would probably make things worse, it would probably really split then. So, right now I have about three options :#1 I could use SAE 30R9 fuel injection fuel line to replace it, use the banjo fittings, and make sure to get fuel injection fuel clamps for that size.#2 I could get a good used one from a junk yard to put on my car, for a cheap price I'd say(hopefully in good condition).#3 I could save my money and get a brand new one from the dealer, which I am sure is quite costly, don't know how much it is though.
I did locate an auto parts store( Autozone) 30 miles from where I live that might sell the SAE 30R9 fuel line by the foot. Stores around here in my area do sell it, but only in 2 foot sections, which sucks. I'll have to give Autozone a call, I am not sure if they are open, due to the fact that it is a holiday weekend. I'll have to be prepared to spend anywhere from 25 to 40 dollars on the fuel line though, since I need about 6 foot of it. Just a rough estamation, but I'd rather have more than I need cut off versus not enough cut off - that would be just a waste of money, if it didn't fit. Well, I'll come to a solution, I always do. Thanks JoeK!
