the right track here's how the fuel injection system relates to the ignition system of your '86 900T:
The fuel injection computer, which we call the ECU, will not allow the fuel pump to start if it doesn't receive a pulsed signal from the ignition module indicating that the engine is turning. The ignition module won't do its thing if it doesn't receive a pulsed signal from the hall effect sensor in the distributor. One of the common things that causes a no-start condition in old 900Ts is that the connector on the side of the distributor cracks, loosens and becomes disconnected.
So, the first thing you want to check is whether you have spark at the plugs. If you don't, then check the hall effect connector and the ignition module. If you do then follow this link for other no-start diagnostics.
After a decade or so, it's not a bad idea to replace the fuel pump and system relays, which are located above the ECU behind the right side kickpanel. The contacts on the relays pit and develop a higher resistance than you want. It's rare that an LH 2.2 ECU, which you have in your car, dies, but it can happen.
